The secrets out and Secret Flying is in. Secret Flying does all the hard work for you when trying to find the best traveling deals. They are constantly updating and provide information on airfares with huge savings to all parts of the world.
They have their own site, Secret Flying, but I prefer to keep track of the new airfare updates on their facebook page. They seem to post a new airfare deal every few hours. Some of the deals they post include Flash Sales, Open-jaw, 2 in 1 trips, and Error Fare.
Flash Sales are just that, quick sales. Many airline companies will offer a limited promotion to their members who are part of their frequent flyer program. The great thing about Secret Flying is now you don’t have to enroll as a member to get the latest updates or promotions. Secret Flying is really good at updating any quick sales on both their site and facebook page.
Open-jaw means the flight you choose will return back to a different location than where it originally began. For example;
Departure: Madrid- Tokyo
Return: Tokyo- Paris
Some of these flights are half the price of a return flight to the same destination as the departure.
2-1 trips mean you get to visit two cities in the all inclusive deal.
Ex: London- New York- Morocco- London
This is the holy grail of deals. These are just as the name states, error fares. Companies will often make a mistake on their pricing and list flights for dirt cheap. Once airlines take note of the mistake, they will quickly fix the error and adjust the price. The tricky part with error fares is sometimes airlines refund you your money back instead of honoring the ticket. If you are lucky enough to score a ticket and a confirmation email from the airline, then your set! That means the company has honored the ticket and you’ve just scored a great ticket for a reduced price (many times 50% less than the original cost). If you buy a ticket, make sure you receive a confirmation before booking any accommodations. It usually takes up to 3 days to find out if the airline is going to honor the deal. So, if you see one of these golden tickets online, book quick and hope you receive a confirmation.
If you are already living abroad, skyscanner.com is a great website to use to check the prices of flights around the world. Simply type in your departure and destination. You’re probably thinking, but Daniel, I already know that.
Tip- A quick tip is to type in your Departing city, choose your day (or preferred month) and do not choose a destination.
Skyscanner will find the cheapest destination on that selected date or month. My girlfriend and I have booked some of our best trips using this method. If you are flexible on date type your departing city, don’t choose a destination, fly there and then do the same starting from that city! Keep doing that until you get back to your starting point. Last year we took flights from Madrid → Milan → Budapest → Istambul → Bucharest → Madrid for about 20-35 euros a flight! I really enjoy this method because it saves you money plus you see new places you probably wouldn’t have explored. Check it out, comment below and let me know of your future travel plans!
